A person with a disability, as defined in the human rights approach, is any person who has a long-standing physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairment which, together with a range of other barriers, may limit that person’s full, effective and equal participation in society. (

Around 16% of the world’s population, an estimated 1.3 billion, or 1 in 6 people, live in the EU. people living with a disability. This number is increasing, due to an ageing population and chronic health conditions (
WHO, 2020
).
Of the various terms we use in Hungary – disability, invalidity, impairment, reduced capacity for work – the most relevant to the world of work is “persons with reduced capacity for work” concept is linked. This term is approached from the perspective of how an individual’s condition affects their employment, and it is to this term that the employment of people with disabilities

According to the latest 2015
labour market survey
of people of working age (19-64) with a disability 680 713of the total working-age population 11,3%-of the working age population in Hungary.
A Jamba’s target group includes both people with disabilities and people with reduced working capacity, who
- part of their identity is that they have different needs, traits and characteristics from the average
- impeded in their social and economic participation in relation to their individual needs
- face discrimination because of their disability or individual needs
Based on the UN definition of disability, WHO calculations and expert estimates, the actual target group of Jamba in Hungary is probably larger than just people with a disability. If 15% of people globally have a disability, the real working-age target group would be also in our country rather 900 thousand approaching.
