Giving Tuesday aims to be a day where everything is about giving, doing good and celebrating it. This year 28 November. will be Giving Tuesday.
The day when the whole world comes together to give. As the name of Giving Tuesday suggests, this is a day when we can remind each other that we have a responsibility and perhaps a duty to help at the beginning of Advent, as a counterpart to Black Friday, when we are encouraged to consume and buy.
So the aim is not hidden: to counteract commercial campaigns that encourage society to buy more and hoard more by making donations and doing good deeds. This day, celebrated on the last Tuesday of November each year, is a day of great international interest worldwide, and every year the initiative is able to mobilise more and more people and organisations in our country.
“Society needs to be sensitised, donation needs to be taught, and the infrastructure and culture of donation needs to be developed,” says Sára Pásztor, head of Jamba. “If we can raise awareness of causes that support the needy and disadvantaged during the big shopping season, we have already achieved an important goal,” he adds.
The day is an opportunity for NGOs to raise awareness of the importance of their causes and to build momentum for the Christmas fundraising season. So let’s pay attention to each other and to important initiatives during the shopping season, and donate to good and socially beneficial causes.
